Dear Daughterofmine,

15 Jan

I don’t think there are many 5 year old girls that have the capacity to think beyond themselves the way you do. You amaze me every day.  I can’t imagine what it must be like to try to spend your childhood with me.  Sometimes I see myself in you so much, then other times I see that you are already far better than I could ever hope to be. You smile through everything. You bounce happily along, even when I pull you.  You have something ingrained in you that is so caring and still so independent.

I’m in awe of you. I love you with every ounce of my being, my whole heart, my whole soul, everything.  If I screw you up somehow, I’m so sorry. Please know I am trying my best.

You hit me with a few infomercials the last few days that had me laughing, but also demonstrate to me the kind of person you are shaping up to be.  Among the things you are learning, all of your energy, and the immensely busy nature of your brain, you showed me that you care. The way that you showed me is hilarious, and went something like this:

You (shrieking at me from living room) : MOMMY!!!!!!!!!! COME HERE!!! YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS! YOU NEEEEEEED THIS!

Me: Whaaattttt?

You: Mommy – look he was like you, then he got this, and his morning was all better and he wasn’t late! You should buy that.

Me (looking at the T.V to see what could possibly change my life in such a way)

Me: Boo, I love you. I’m sorry Mommy is so grumpy in the morning.

–way #2 —

You (again with the shrieking) : MOMMY! Come here and see this! You need this!

Me (sighing): what is it?

You:  Look at this! Then you wont get mad at the papers. You can fold it all up really clean and it wont be on your kitchen table. Then you can even carry it. See, its cool!

Me:  Who are you? Why are you so sweet? I have to go get in the shower now. I love you.

You: Isn’t it cool? But you have to be 18 and I am only 5.

—way #3—

You (shriek, of course): MOMMY! Come here! you have to see this, you neeeeed this!

Me: Boo, I don’t have time for this.

You: Just LOOK!  You can wear these and they fit and they are comfortable and then you CAN wear your sweats in public.

Me:  (sigh) Okay.

Me:  BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love you so much,

Mommy

Watch out. She’s liable to sign you up on a dating site and hook you up for marriage. She’s very resourceful and kind for sure.

She already trys to give me dating and marriage advice. haha. “look, he’s nice, you should marry him”. I plan on storing comments like this in the back of my head until she graduates from college. Then I will taunt her with them. When she tell me it isn’t that simple…I will remind her, that she is the one who convinced me it is. hehe. I love her. How precious is that?
